It was a slippery day out on the highway.... On the drive after work I saw two cars in the ditch and felt incredibly grateful for my safe ride home. Thank you, Rav4, for getting me here in one piece.

The Kittens...
Every time I look at them, I'm amazed that I've known them since the day they were born... Bastet and Cordelia Jax have been a welcome addition to Luxton Manor with their unabashed demands for love, their uninhibited enjoyment of life, and their never ending curiosity in the world around them. I can learn a lot from them.
Is there anything in the world more adorable than a kitten? I think not.

Luck or Blessing....? I'm going with blessing.
Today I am thankful for great food and great friends! The pot luck dinner tonight was more skill than luck, though! The pineapple surprise (Pineapple Thai, actually) tasted as good as it looked.... And the soup. Don't get me started on the soup - also Thai, and equally delicious. Ah, star anise, you are a wonder of nature.
So thank you, my friends, for making this evening so memorable.

Layers of Light
The sunlight on the drive home today after work was amazing - the way it bounced off the oddly layered clouds and lit up the trees and electrical poles.... beautiful! This picture doesn't do it justice...

There and Back Again
Oh the power of words! I'm thankful for stories that inspire the imgination as well as everyday life. The Hobbit was one of my favorite books growing up, and when the movie version was released I was a bit sceptical, but went anyway. Instantly I was again transported into a world where an unassuming Hobbit accepts the offer to go on an adventure (even though hobbits much prefer the comforts of home) and that decision sparks new experiences and a new understanding of himself. Inspirational to all of us ordinary folks who are reminded that no matter how small, we are all capable of remarkable things.
